Lunar Campers names its new Toyota Proace campervan ‘Lerina’ and announces first Toyota retailer orders

Lunar Campers is delighted to announce that its new Toyota Proace-based campervan is to be called the Lerina, named after a group of islands off the French Riviera, and it will be available from a selection of Toyota retailers across the UK, from Scotland to Sussex.

After a tour of Toyota retailers, Lunar Campers is delighted to confirm that 12 of them have already decided to add the campervan lifestyle of the Lerina to their showrooms. They are:

• Ayr, Scotland: Arnold Clark Toyota
• Cheltenham, Gloucestershire: Listers Toyota
• Coventry, West Midlands: Listers Toyota
• Edinburgh, Scotland: Western Toyota
• Hastings, East Sussex: SLM Toyota
• Northwich, Cheshire: Oakmere Toyota
• Norwich, East Anglia: SLM Toyota
• Llandudno, Wales: Premier Toyota
• Mansfield, Nottinghamshire: Ron Brooks Toyota
• Peterborough, Cambridgeshire: Steven Eagle Toyota
• Queensferry, Flintshire: Lindop Toyota
• Sheffield, Yorkshire: Burrows Toyota

In addition, the Lerina will also be available from four other Lunar Camper agents:
• Ilminster, Somerset: Brakes Motor Company
• Kendal, Cumbria: Kendal Caravans
• Blackpool, Lancashire: Westfield Caravans
• Inverness, Scotland: Highland Campervans

Lunar Campers is also delighted to confirm that after taking the Lerina to exhibitions in Düsseldorf, Paris and Stuttgart, it has received its first export orders of left-hand-drive versions from Toyota retailers in Germany.

The Lerina offers the classic campervan features of a pop-up roof (by SCA) and layout with a side kitchen and a ‘rock-and-roll’, crash-tested rear seat that converts to a double bed. The seat is fitted to rails in the floor so it can slide forward when travelling to provide more loadspace or to bring rear passengers nearer the driver, then backwards to maximise living space while camping. The front seats can then be swivelled to face the rear to create a sociable lounge area.

The kitchen unit has a compressor fridge, plus a sink and gas hob covered by a glass lid. Its high standard specification also includes: on-board fresh water tank, 100W solar panel, Eberspacher heating system (with timer), and a portable toilet. There is the option of a double bed in the pop-up roof (to make it a four-berth) and two extra, removable seats to turn it into a people-carrier for six people.

Power is provided by Toyota’s 2.0-litre diesel engine with 120bhp and a six-speed manual gearbox, or 180bhp with automatic transmission. Prices start from £42,000 (on the road), and include a five year warranty from Toyota for the base vehicle and a five year warranty from Lunar Campers for the conversion.

The Toyota Proace base-vehicle has just received the accolade of being joint winner of the ‘Medium Van of the Year’ category in the What Van? Awards 2018, and has a comprehensive standard specification, including: metallic paint, 17in alloy wheels, satellite navigation, cruise control, air conditioning, DAB radio, electric front windows and door mirrors, and Toyota’s TFT multi-function colour instrument display panel.

Lunar Campers was established In July 2017 following the acquisition of Wellhouse Leisure, the UK’s leading campervan converter, by the UK manufacturer, Lunar Caravans. By utilising the combined experience and extra production capacity, Lunar Campers will become the UK’s biggest campervan manufacturer – and exporter. The Toyota Proace Lerina will start production at Lunar’s facility in Leyland, Lancashire in March.

David Elliott, Director of Lunar Campers said: “The response to our Toyota Lerina from the public in the UK and abroad, plus all the Toyota retailers we’ve visited, has been fantastic. The Lerina’s compact size, high quality, luxury specification and low price are proving extremely attractive, and we are delighted that we’ve already got a growing network of Toyota retailers in the UK, plus export orders to Toyota agents in Germany as well.”
