Wingamm, the premium Italian caravan and motorhome brand known for its distinctive, one-piece (and leak-free) fibreglass bodies, has two models making their UK debut on its stand (P514) at the Scottish Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show in Glasgow (from 8 to 11 February) – its lightweight, Rookie L caravan and the 2018 version of its most popular model, the Volkswagen T6 Micros compact motorhome.

Rookie L

After listening to feedback to its smaller Rookie 3.5 caravan, and a prototype version of the one metre longer Rookie L, Wingamm is delighted to announce that it is producing a Rookie L specifically for the UK with the entrance door on the left-hand side.

Its special features are that it is lightweight with an MIRO of 980kg and MTPLM of 1200kg, making it suitable to be towed by many smaller cars, and is guaranteed never to leak thanks to its monocoque (one-piece) fibreglass bodyshell.

It is also easy to tow thanks to its curvy aerodynamic shape and the standard AL-KO AKS 3400 stabilizer, with a compact overall length of 5.99m long (and 4.46m of interior space).

The Rookie L is also exceptionally stylish on the inside with a distinctive Italian look and light colour scheme. It can sleep four people with a large U-shaped front lounge (that converts in to a double bed) and a fixed double bed in the rear, nearside corner. There’s a kitchen in the centre of the interior with a two-burner gas hob, a 146-litre Dometic tower fridge and LG microwave oven, plus a corner washroom with shower and a Thetford C201 cassette toilet. Hot water and blown-air heating is provided by a Truma SL3002 system.

Gavin Campbell, Director of Wingamm UK commented: “The Rookie L retains the cute and stylish looks of the smaller 3.5 model, but adds valuable extra space and sleeping capacity, and after selling our first Rookie L as soon as it arrived in our showroom last month, we think it’s going to prove a great success.”

“Producing a UK-specific model of the Rookie L, with the entrance door on the left-hand side, shows Wingamm’s commitment to the UK,” Gavin added.

The Rookie L has a retail price, including delivery, of £25,995.

2018 Volkswagen T6 Micros

The Wingamm Volkswagen T6 Micros compact motorhome is its best-selling model. The 2018 model makes its UK debut with a new Truma combi boiler system, the popular L-shaped dinette, and stylish upholstery from a new partnership with the UK supplier, Transcal, which supplies many premium automotive manufacturers and prestigious global airlines.

To speed up and simplify the ordering process, Wingamm UK orders all right-hand drive Micros models with white interior furniture, then offers customers a choice of cupboard doors and upholstery which is fitted out by Transcal in the UK.

The Micros is just 5.33m long, 2.2m wide and 2.75m high, which means its fits in regular car park spaces, yet still has Wingamm’s unique drop-down, longitudinal double bed, and memory foam mattress, which makes it easier to get in and out of bed without disturbing a partner.

A high standard specification includes a 2.0-litre, 150hp turbodiesel engine with DSG automatic transmission (with 4Motion all-wheel drive also available), cruise control, cab air conditioning, Truma combi 4 blown-air heating and a 100-litre fresh water tank.

It has a maximum weight of 3200kg with a generous payload of 574kg and is available from £76,995 (plus registration fee).

Wingamm special features

All Wingamm caravans and motorhomes are distinctive thanks to their unique, aerodynamic, fibreglass monocoque bodies. This has several advantages as they are not only stronger, but easier to repair, better insulated and, best of all, as they’re all one-piece without any joins, there will never be any water ingress issues.
Their interiors also offer something a little different, with high quality, modern designs and plenty of Italian style.
