Wellhouse Leisure will reveal an unmistakeable, sporty-looking Ford Terrier MS-RT VR|46 limited edition campervan inspired by MotoGP world champion, Valentino Rossi on its stand in Hall 12 at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC (17 to 22 October 2017).
This is one of a range of sporty, Ford-based campervans that Wellhouse Leisure is developing with MS-RT, the specialist converter of Ford commercial vehicles with motorsport inspired styling founded by Van-Sport and motorsport legend, Malcolm Wilson.
The MS-RT VR|46 is a limited edition model developed in collaboration with Valentino Rossi, the MotoGP World Champion motorbike racer, and is available from £59,000.
The dramatic exterior styling will make these unique campervans from Wellhouse Leisure and MS-RT stand out from the crowd, but although they look like they should be on a race track, they’re just as at home on a campsite and have all the usual campervan comforts and practicality that have made the Wellhouse Ford Terrier so successful.
This limited edition is based on a new ‘standard’ Wellhouse Ford Terrier MS-RT model (available from £55,000) which has a 170PS Euro 6 Ford EcoBlue engine and full state-of-the-art rally body styling with lazer LED full beam assist lights and daytime running lights. It also has a twin sports exhaust system, 18in OZ alloy wheels, lowered suspension with Eibach lowering springs for better road holding, nappa leather sports seats and a sports steering wheel.
Additional features for the limited edition VR|46 model include the branding from Valentino Rossi’s company VR|46 on the bespoke exterior decals and inside on the nappa leather sports seats. It also has a VR|46 limited edition number plaque, VR|46 dashboard dials, VR|46 sports steering wheel, plus a lower VR|46 front bumper and grill. It is only available in metallic black or magnetic grey with satin black 18in OZ alloy wheels, and to ensure its exclusivity, production is limited to a total of 460 for the UK and 460 for mainland Europe.
The Terrier’s modern interior with its high quality, one piece kitchen (with cooker, sink and fridge) and wardrobe unit from the Italian designed, premium furniture manufacturer, Tecnoform, makes this campervan even more desirable.
If travelling with larger items like bikes, the rear seat can slide forwards in a (Schnierle) rail system to maximise rear loadspace for larger items (and also bring passengers closer to the driver); then, when camping, the seat slides back again to maximise living space, and also converts into a double bed. This makes this campervan a true multi-function vehicle and as it is only 4.97m long, can be used every day and fit in regular parking spaces.
Edward Davies, owner and founder of MS-RT said: “We are passionate about fusing our motorsport experience with the tough and reliable Ford commercial vehicles to make them stand apart from anything else, yet still be practical and fun to use. We know that many customers use their vans in their leisure time as well, so a campervan conversion of one of our vehicles will make a winning combination.”
Following the recent acquisition of Wellhouse Leisure, one of the biggest British campervan manufacturers, by Lunar Caravans, the UK caravan and motorhome manufacturer, its new venture, Lunar Campers Limited, will make the Wellhouse Ford Terrier MS-RT models available at selected Ford retailers across the UK and also plans to start exporting them to mainland Europe. They will also be available via the Lunar motorhome dealer network, as well as direct from Wellhouse Leisure.
David Elliott, Sales Director of Lunar Campers commented: “We have worked with MS-RT for three years and between us produced some of the most eye catching campers in the UK, but we both now want to take it to the next step by offering a bigger range of luxury sport campers. Now that we are part of the Lunar group we will have extra production capacity to meet the demand”
